چکیده
Abstract Background The mitochondrial (mt) genomes of Sarcoptiformes mites typically contain 37 genes. Although the loss genes is rare in mite mitogenomes, two six previously reported oribatid (Acariforms: Sarcoptiformes) are to have lost parts their tRNA To confirm whether were indeed and universal, we re-annotated available sequences sequenced mitogenome Oribatula sakamorii . Methods O was using an Illumina HiSeq sequencer. mt gene annotated multi-software combined with a manual annotation approach. Phylogenetic analyses performed maximum likelihood Bayesian inference methods concatenated nucleotide amino acid sequences. Results mitogenomes contained genes, including 22 We identified all that as “lost” Steganacarus magnus Paraleius leontonychus revealed certain atypical errors Oribatid characterized by low rates genetic rearrangement, or seven blocks conserved between species ancestral arthropods. Considering relative order major (protein-coding rRNAs), only one rearranged respect positions genome. explored phylogenetic relationships among mites, results confirmed systematic position Hermannia Crotonioidea superfamily. This also supported synapomorphic gene-derived boundaries. Conclusions phenomenon not universal mites. Rather, highly secondary structure inferred made them unidentifiable single type search program. use approach can improve accuracy annotation. In addition, precise validated Astigmata nested Oribatida. Graphical

Improved systematic tRNA gene annotation allows new insights into the evolution of mitochondrial tRNA structures and into the mechanisms of mitochondrial genome rearrangements
Transfer RNAs (tRNAs) are present in all types of cells as well as in organelles. tRNAs of animal mitochondria show a low level of primary sequence conservation and exhibit 'bizarre' secondary structures, lacking complete domains of the common cloverleaf. Such sequences are hard to detect and hence frequently missed in computational analyses and mitochondrial genome annotation. Here, we introdu...
متن کاملMitochondrial genome evolution and tRNA truncation in Acariformes mites: new evidence from eriophyoid mites
The subclass Acari (mites and ticks) comprises two super-orders: Acariformes and Parasitiformes. Most species of the Parasitiformes known retained the ancestral pattern of mitochondrial (mt) gene arrangement of arthropods, and their mt tRNAs have the typical cloverleaf structure. All of the species of the Acariformes known, however, have rearranged mt genomes and truncated mt tRNAs. We sequence...
متن کاملGenome Sequence and Comparative Genome Analysis of Lactobacillus casei: Insights into Their Niche-Associated Evolution
Lactobacillus casei is remarkably adaptable to diverse habitats and widely used in the food industry. To reveal the genomic features that contribute to its broad ecological adaptability and examine the evolution of the species, the genome sequence of L. casei ATCC 334 is analyzed and compared with other sequenced lactobacilli. This analysis reveals that ATCC 334 contains a high number of coding...
متن کاملThe rainbow trout genome provides novel insights into evolution after whole-genome duplication in vertebrates
Vertebrate evolution has been shaped by several rounds of whole-genome duplications (WGDs) that are often suggested to be associated with adaptive radiations and evolutionary innovations. Due to an additional round of WGD, the rainbow trout genome offers a unique opportunity to investigate the early evolutionary fate of a duplicated vertebrate genome. Here we show that after 100 million years o...
متن کاملThe African Turquoise Killifish Genome Provides Insights into Evolution and Genetic Architecture of Lifespan
Lifespan is a remarkably diverse trait ranging from a few days to several hundred years in nature, but the mechanisms underlying the evolution of lifespan differences remain elusive. Here we de novo assemble a reference genome for the naturally short-lived African turquoise killifish, providing a unique resource for comparative and experimental genomics. The identification of genes under positi...
